RN Jobs at Elite Nurses

RN Job Description

A Registered Nurse (RN) is fundamental to any healthcare setting. RNs coordinate patient care, meet their needs, and foster a comfortable environment. RNs work closely with doctors and other healthcare professionals to maintain the highest level of patient care.

RNs typically have the most substantial interactions with patients compared to other healthcare roles. RNs execute a wide range of patient care tasks with oversight from doctors.

Patients often develop strong relationships with their RNs, significantly improving their quality of life and contributing to quicker recoveries. Doctors depend heavily on the observations and recommendations of RNs to provide the most effective treatment plans.

RN duties often encompass the following:

  •  Monitoring vital signs like temperature, pulse, respiration rate, and blood pressure.
  • Assessing the patient’s level of pain.
  • Administering medication as prescribed by doctors.
  • Assisting patients with activities of daily living.
  • Repositioning patients to prevent bedsores.
  • Overseeing wound care.
  • Assisting doctors during medical procedures.
  • Transporting patients when necessary.
  • Changing and cleaning linens.
  • Restocking medical supplies.
  • Updating patient charts and medical records.
  • Answering patient questions and providing health education.

The career outlook for RNs is robust – numerous RN jobs are available, given the high demand for their expertise.

RN License Information

You must obtain a license in your respective state to work as an RN. While each state’s requirements may differ slightly, most have similar steps.

  1. Complete an approved RN program – Most programs last 2 to 4 years and combine classroom instruction with clinical rotations.
  2. Pass the NCLEX-RN Exam – This nationally standardized exam includes a written test and a practical skills evaluation.
  3. Register with the state’s nursing board – Each state has its own licensing process. This typically involves completing an application and paying a registration fee.
